Philanthropy

Welcome to 2010!

We are working for three different charities.

1. Thomas House Temporary Shelter.
Ph. 714-554-0357 ( Sister Kathy Stein)

a. Items they need are quilts for children and babies
b. Toys
c. New or almost new children’s and ladies’ clothing
d. School supplies - all types welcomed.

2. Blocks for the Brave.
Email - blocksforthebrave@yahoo.com

a. Collecting red-white-blue blocks for quilts (12" pattern-ask me for a copy)
b. All members are invited to sew at the American Legion the third Sunday of the Month and I send out an email with a few dates at a time to help AQG members with scheduling. Also I will pick you up if you want to come with me to sew on that day.

NEW---NEW----NEW----NEW

3. Giving Children Hope.
Ph. 714-523-4454 (Elizabeth Saldana)
We have not made a donation as of this date but I am putting things together to take there shortly.

a. Small toys to give as prizes for homework rewards
b. Quilts for children 5yrs through 12yrs of age.
c. We may do a food drive or monetary donation in the future if AQG is interested.

I am looking for my replacement for "Philanthropy Chairperson” and would like to start showing someone the ins and outs as soon as possible. This is a wonderful experience and one that works well with a small organized group of ladies with a bit of creative juice. If you and a few friends want to take this position please come and talk with me any time. My helpers have made a great impact on getting me through the TWO terms in philanthropy. I would like to thank Charlotte Hansen, Dana Matsukawa and Sharon Monge for all their help and continued support for the months ahead. I have seen many wonderful donations throughout my time here and hope to finish my work on an up swing as we move on in memberships, donations, and creative wonderful AQG members.

I want every member (and members' friends who have shared with the Guild) to know that their donations have made those who have received our quilts, toys, school supplies, clothing, and many other items a little warmer a little brighter and I feel that our love and helpfulness was felt by the recipients of these donations.

Sew on for Acacia Quilt Guild!
